First Time: The Ultimate Taste Test 9.0 in Soderno @ Molito

It’s raining once again, these rains reminded me so much of that particular Sunday when I braved the rains just so I could attend the Ultimate Taste Test 9.0 in Soderno, Molito, Alabang.

I have received several invites from previous ultimate taste tests before but I find it tiresome to go to far places just to attend an event. So when the invite for the Soderno @ Molito Ultimate Taste Test 9.0 came, I gladly accepted the invite.

As one of the bloggers, we got in for free but non-bloggers were still able to join the taste test for only P300. The premise was fairly straightforward, for a fee you get to try the specialties offered by participating merchants. The dishes were given in sample sizes though larger portions are available at full prices. Afterwards, customers were required to rate and give feedback for each dish.

We tasted samples from 30 merchants and so far, here are my Top 5:

Manila Q's Bagwang | Bagwang

I must have been busy munching Manila Q’s Bagwang that I forgot to take actual snap shots :)

Anyway, the Bagwang is a cross between bagnet, bacon and chicharon. It’s crispy, the fat is not overwhelming and very delicious. No wonder a lot of people are raving about it.

Polland's Lumpia Soderno

Polland Kikiam

These were the first dishes that I tried and what a delicious way to jumpstart the food feast! I am no fan of fresh lumpia, my mom is, but when I tasted Polland’s Lumpia… oh boy! It sent my taste buds a wonderful kick at the same time telling my mind “hey, you now have a new favorite!” Yes, from the on, I became a  lover of Fresh Lumpia.

I also got the chance to taste their Kikiam which was surprisingly good. It tasted like embutido and nothing kikiam-y. Both dishes are a must try.

Mamalou's Italian Kitchen Panzarotti

I am a sucker for Italian dishes so when I tasted Mamalou’s Italian Kitchen’s panzarotti or pizza empanada, I knew how good it was. The crust was crispy yet still soft and the were so generous with their cheesy filling. A must-try indeed.

Happy Panda Chicken and Buffalo Wings

The Happy Panda made me ask for more. My uncle cooks the best buffalo wings so theirs come a close second :) But seriously, of the many buffalo wings I have tried, theirs were perfect.

And yes, the guys of Happy Panda are good looking too haha

Nutella Rocks by Baked Bites by ABC

Okay I must admit that this product really rocks. It’s not too sweet and definitely you could taste Nutella on every bite. It’s also unique by the way, I brought home some and even my eldest girl loved it.

And just like in any taste test, I’ve had my share of not-so-good reviews but I’d rather keep it to myself than hurt fellow business owners. Feel free to drop me an email if you want the list :)

Until next ultimate taste test!
